Joe Eddie Greenwell 2007-2008 Officers
June 2007 Press Release Three Global War on Terrorism veterans assumed leadership positions this Monday at AMVETS Post 103 located in Vine Grove. AMVETS Post 103 swore in it’s newly elected officers at a ceremony this Monday at its Post Home located at 155 Hargan Road in Vine Grove. Among the officers sworn in were three Global War on Terrorism veterans who were sworn in as the Post Commander, Adjutant and Provost Marshal. The newly sworn in Commander, John Wingfield, is an Iraqi Freedom veteran who is currently serving as an AGR Reservist with the United States Army’s D Company 8th Battalion 229th Aviation, based at Ft Knox. The Adjutant, Dan McPeters, is a United States Air Force veteran who served a tour in Kuwait with an Air Force Transportation unit. The Provost Marshal, Rob Morgan, is a United States Army veteran who was just recently discharged after serving a tour with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The election of these three young veterans to critical positions is an indicator that veterans posts are not just a place for older veterans, but a place for veterans of all eras to come together in a spirit of comradeship. Said newly sworn in Commander Wingfield: "It is a general misconception that most veterans organizations are just for the older crowd and that there is little room for younger veterans to become active participants. Younger veterans are always welcome and in many cases encouraged to step up into leadership positions." Membership in AMVETS is open to all honorably discharged and retired veterans along with all personnel currently serving in the military, both active and reserve components.
